If you have ever moved, you most likely understand how stressful cleaning, organizing, packing, and transporting your belongings can be. Since they are often used up until the very last day you are in your residence, packing your clothes at the last minute may make sense. However, this disorganization can become stressful on moving day. Before moving day arrives, use these packing hacks to organize and transport your clothes in an efficient, stress-free manner.
Organize
If you are moving in the summer months, you probably do not need sweaters and jackets anytime soon, so you can organize your closets and drawers to start packing certain items early.
A few weeks before your actual moving day, pack up the items in your wardrobe that you know you will not need within the next few weeks. Label these boxes and bags accordingly, so you will know they do not need to be unpacked as soon as you move into your new residence.
During this organization period, remove any items that are in poor condition or no longer fit. Donate items that are in good condition to a local charity or shelter.
Hang
Pulling your clothes out of the closet and folding them to pack into a box is time-consuming. Not only does this increase the time it takes to pack up and move your belongings, but it will also increase the time it takes to unpack at your new residence. To save money and reduce stress, leave your clothes on their hangers.
Bundle like items together while they are hanging in your closet. You should have a section or two of pants, dresses, blouses, sweaters, jackets, and other items.
Once you have your items bundled, slide a large garbage bag under each section of clothes. Keep them on the hanger through this task. Tie the bag's handles together around the neck of the bunch of hangers. Remove the bundled and bagged section of clothes and place in your truck to transport to your new residence
First Night/Day
Another way to make moving day easier is to pack a first night/day bag of clothes for yourself and each member of your family. Include sleepwear and a change of clothes for the next day in the box. Also, make sure to throw in your toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, and toilet paper.
By having this first night/day box, you can save yourself the trouble of digging through multiple boxes after an exhausting moving day.
Packing up your clothes before moving day may seem intimidating, but these hacks will make it a pleasant and productive event. For more tips and advice, contact a household moving company.
